0. Introduction

In the following, the words "we" and "us" refer to Covariable, a California corporation. By using our services, you agree to the following terms of use. Should you not agree to these terms of use, you must discontinue use immediately.

1. Your Personal Information

We will not share your personal information with any third parties, except as legally required, but we may use it to contact you.

2. Limitations of Liability

You, as the user, are responsible for determining if information you import into our software is legal and accurate. We make no claims regarding the accuracy of any information found on our site. We strive to produce accurate analysis, but we do not assure users that our computations are error free. For especially important analyses, we suggest that you double check results independently. By using our site, you agree we are not liable for errors in computation or inaccurate information.

Our site is designed to allow for easy analysis of data so our users can easily import, share, and analyze it. It is your responsibility to verify that any data that you import into our site is legal. While we will not share your personal information for marketing purposes, we may cooperate in any legal action taken against our users.

Our site is also a data repository of a large amount of publicly available information. As is the case with other open repositories, there may be incorrect data in the repository. We are not responsible for such errors. While we provide a collection of data, we do not vouch for its accuracy.

3. Hacking & Bots

You may not, without our prior written approval, attempt to reverse engineer, appropriate, or compromise the security of any part of our site, server, or associated technologies. You are expressly forbidden from attempting to de-obfuscate any JavaScript code found on our site. Although you are free (and encouraged) to create links to covariable.com, visiblestatistics.com or any of our other domain names, you are forbidden from attempting to incorporate any of our technology in any manner or into any site not operated by us without our prior written consent. Should you attempt to do so, we may pursue civil or criminal action against you.

You are expressly forbidden from attempting to access any other user's private data. Should you attempt to do so, we may pursue civil or criminal action against you and may assist any harmed users in doing so.

Our site is intended for human users! You may not create or utilize automated tools that contact our servers, other than those provided by us. You are also forbidden from engaging in any behavior that puts undue load on our servers, including, but not limited to, issuing an exorbitant number of requests, attempting to exhaust disk capacity or bandwidth through large requests or sending useless data to our servers.

4. Outages & Bugs

Our site may experience outages from time to time. There is a remote possibility that you may experience permanent data loss. By using our site, you agree to tolerate outages and accept the possibility that you temporarily or permanently lose access to data which you have stored on our site. We endeavor to create robust and fault tolerant code and systems, but mistakes do occasionally occur. For critical data sets, we recommend that you keep your own copies of data.

Our software may also have some bugs. These bugs may result in incorrectly displayed data, crashed web browsers, or damage or corruption of your machine. While we and the implementers of your web browser go to great pains to ensure that your machine is unaffected by any bugs in our code, it is remotely possible that you may lose data through the use of our site. By using our site, you agree to hold us harmless for all damages resulting from faults in our software, including, but not limited to lost productivity or data.

5. Accounts: Usage and Termination

We issue accounts on a per user basis. Each account belongs to a single human user. You are expressly forbidden from selling access to your account to others, sharing access to your account, or allowing use of your account on more than one machine at once. Should you do any of these, we may deactivate your account and pursue any other appropriate legal remedies.

Should you wish to explicitly terminate an account, you must contact us. As our basic accounts are free, there is no need to terminate a basic account; you may simply leave it inactive. Should your account remain inactive for a period of more than 180 days, we may deactivate it and delete any data associated with it. This is a housekeeping measure to ensure that capacity is available for new users.

Although you may logically delete data from your account via our site, we do not guarantee that the data is permanently erased from our servers. Data may be stored indefinitely in our system and data that was made available to the public may remain accessible to other users.

6. Miscellaneous

These terms of use are subject to change without notice. Through your continuing use of our site, you agree to comply with the terms of use as currently stated on this page.

7. Severability

Should any portion of these terms of use be deemed illegal or otherwise retracted, the remaining portions shall still apply.
